My work explores the intersection of fashion, jewelry, and sculpture. I experiment with the forms of organisms usually overlooked in order to showcase the unexpected beauty found in the natural forms around us.
I create wearable pieces because when we choose to wear an item on the body, we are allowing the world around us a glimpse into our thoughts or feelings of that moment. To me, jewelry is the most intimate form of making--there is a direct relationship between the maker and the wearer. I choose to work with materials that allow me to be sustainably conscious by upcycling fabric and organic objects. I combine these elements using traditional metalsmithing techniques.
This body of work calls attention to the very human compulsion to change the natural state of the environment around us--questioning what we find beautiful or worthy.
